Valentine's Day Weekend

As someone who hasn't been too romantically involved in the past couple of years, I wasn't expecting an eventful Valentine's Day weekend. But to my surprise, here's a list of things I got wrapped up in:

  • Flew to Boston on 2/14
  • Got dinner with a friend1
  • Volunteered for HMMT on 2/15
  • 2/16 flight cancelled
  • Rented a Toyota RAV4 on 2/17 for a 10+ hour drive to Pittsburgh

As a part of CMIMC, we do a little staff exchange with HMMT which is why I was in Boston in the first place. I went last year as well and the contest part was as fun last year as it was this year.

But due to 60mph winds in the New England area, it seems as though airlines were not really working well with us. Specifically, the next flight with the original airline we booked would have been 2/18 evening, which some of us really couldn't do. As such, I had to quickly find a place to sleep on Sunday night so that I could brace myself for 10 hours of driving the next day.

I ended up driving about 6 or 7 hours of the total drive, but here's a list of things we did on the way:

  • Car karaoke
  • Stopped by Yale for a big lunch with all of our friends
  • Intercepted a CMU alum who was driving towards New York (we met him in Shartlesville)[what the fuck is Shartlesville?]
  • Got to PIT at around midnight to Uber back to CMU campus

I guess I wasn't super close with the four other people I was driving with, but by the end of all this turmoil, it was nice that we got to get to know each other a lot better.
